Room Spotlight: Vibrant Parlor

http://www.elledecor.com
This fantastic space was designed by Susan Hable Smith and featured in Elle Decor. The space has a southern feel with a nod to traditional and eclectic design. The color of the space is soft and feminine. I absolutely love the chandelier. It's delicate, like the space, but brings an energy and vintage glamour into the space. The chaise lounge is a perfect place to read a book, or take a quick nap. The curtains are very lush and make the space feel taller and more cozy. Most of the furniture in the space is quite low to the ground. Making the space feel more casual. What do you think of the space? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Today's Must Have: Apr 29, 2013

How great is this Givenchy shopper tote? I love the bright red leather and small wallet that comes with the tote. This tote is perfect with a pair of jeans. It's casual, yet feels elegant and well made. Well, at over a thousand dollars it better be well made! You can use the tote as a laptop bag for the office, or you can use the tote to hold a blanket for an afternoon picnic in Central Park. What do you think of the tote?

Castle Design: Malbork Castle

http://www.wallpaperslot.com
The Malbork Castle is located in Poland. The castle is the largest castle in the world by surface area, and the largest brick building in Europe. The castle is a classic example of a medieval fortress. (ABOVE) The classic medieval fortress is done in brick. You can see the scale of the wall by looking at the people walking along the side of the wall. I love the two towers in the center. (BELOW 1) The center courtyard. From the courtyard the castle has a much less grand feel. It's more inviting. The castle is located along the river Nogat. (BELOW 2) Inside the tall walls of the castle is a cobblestone walkway and lush greenery. The castle looks like a college campus. The brick walls are full of history. (BELOW 3) I love this shot of the castle. The roof has this fantastic pattern on the main building. What do you think of the castle?

Design Video: Midnight Barcelona

The city of Barcelona is a city full of iconic architecture, fashion, and passionate people. The city is full of fantastic things to do and places to see. Pau Garcia Laita was able to capture the beauty and power of the city at night. A city that truly never sleeps. Laita is from Spain, which gives the video an authentic feel. A video through the eyes of a native! What do you think of the video?

Playing With Food

https://www.facebook.com
As a kid I used to play with my food. However, instead of creating colorful, artistic dishes I made a mess! Artist Hong Yi decided to play with her food and managed to create this wonderful, creative series. What I love about the series is the white plate theme throughout. (ABOVE) Made of onions and mint leaves. The way Hong Yi placed the onions creates much dimension. (BELOW 1) The Three Little Pigs. Looks like the house is being taken away by balloons made out of jelly beans. How very "Up"! (BELOW 2) Made out of eggplant. I must say, I love the elephant. (BELOW 3) Made out of chilli padi. I love tulips, I just bought some to place in front of my house. What do you think of Hong Yi's series?

Space's I'm Loving: Part XII

http://www.michaelhamptondesign.com
Why I Love This Space: I love this space's monochromatic color theme and simple elegant pieces

Sometimes a space with a monochromatic color theme and simple elegant pieces makes more of an impact on a person than an elaborate, colorful space. This space designed by Michael Hampton, has a fresh, relaxing, yet stylish feel. The chaise lounge chair, keeps the space open. Without having a back, the space appears larger. The walls are done in a cool parquet type design. Do you like such a simple space? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Why I Love This Space: I love this space's unique furnishings, and proportions

This space has a relaxed, put together look. It feels designed, but not overly designed. The sofa is hands down one of the statement furnishings in the space. The sofa brings a dimension of color, and a striking form into this townhouse. I love the brass standing lamp, table lamps, as well as the case piece under the windows. They all have a unique shape and look. The furnishings all have a different height. The coffee table is rather low, while the table lamps are quite tall. This mix really works. What do you think of the space? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Why I Love This Space: I love this space's mix of classic art and laid back furnishings

I'm a huge sucker for classic art. Yes I love my vintage 60s/70s furniture, but I love to pair classic art with them. In this space, brilliant classical portraits are paired with very unassuming laid back furnishings. That difference in style makes the space far more visually interesting. When you're styling a look you never match your shoes with your bag. In design, why should one have to match classic art with classic furniture or modern art with modern furniture? What do you think of the space? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Why I Love This Space: I love that bathroom is fully mirrored

Who says you can't have a mirrored bathroom? Hey, at least it makes sharing the bathroom in the morning far less stressful. I love this bathroom featured in Lonny Magazine. The bathroom is fully mirrored, it sort of reminds me of the "What Not To Wear" 360 mirror. The space feels open and bright. If you look at the hanging mirror over the sink, you'll spot a vintage photograph behind it, pretty cool detail. What do you think of the space? You can add as little or as much to your space as you want. Don't follow rules, just do.

Greenwich Classic Estate

http://www.sothebysrealty.com
Located in Greenwich, Connecticut is this stunning 1932 English Manor. The home is situated on 1.5 acres of wonderfully manicured lawns and gardens. (ABOVE) I love the symmetry of the home, and landscaping. It has a nice balance, but it's not perfect. The hedges and color from the trees look beautiful against the home. (BELOW 1) The windows of the home are gorgeous. They're original and have much character. The backyard is perfectly maintained. The grass looks beautiful. I love the stone work that separates the lawn from the pool. Tucked to the left of the home is a great sitting area. (BELOW 2) The pool is a perfect rectangle. Personally, I think a rectangular pool is way more stylish than a curved pool. From the pool deck, the home looks more like a cottage, than an English inspired mansion. (BELOW 3) In addition to a pool, the property features a tennis court. The tennis court is fenced in by a wonderful hedge. The slate walkway to the right leads to the pool. What do you think of the home?

All The Buildings In New York

http://allthebuildingsinnewyork.com
"All The Buildings In New York" is an incredible series drawn and painted by James Hancock. Hancock who came to the USA from Australia, moved to New York City and was inspired by the variation in architectural styles that can be seen on one city block. When Hancock was in Paris, the architecture was much different, Hancock describes that each area of the city had a specific architectural style and building height. In New York, there is an eclecticism to the buildings. Each having its own distinct height and look. The series focuses on popular buildings in the city, but also the buildings that Hancock lived by and was influenced by. (ABOVE) If you're interested in looking at his series in one place, you can purchase the book. (BELOW 1) "The Chrysler Building" I love the patterns and shapes at the bottom. (BELOW 2) "The New Museum" the building is drawn on a white backdrop. Very fitting for New York's only museum dedicated to presenting contemporary art from around the world. (BELOW 3) "767 5th Ave" can you guess which building this is? I love me some Apple! (VIDEO) Check out this great video clip in which Hancock describes his work and the process, quite fascinating! What do you think?

Tom Bins colorful jewelry has that perfect mix of eclectic and classic. Jewelry designer, Tom Bins and CEO Viera Newton, started Tom Binns in 2004 and was quickly recognized for his use of color and unique jewelry design, inspired by his interest in combining elegance and anti-conformist sentiment. Today, celebrities such as Beyonce, Cate Blanchett, Michelle Obama, and Lady Gaga are wearing Bins jewelry. (ABOVE) "Black and Pearlised White Paint Veil Of Shadows Earrings" have that classic look, with the black crystal, and chandelier shape. The earrings have a modern touch with the white stones and turquoise. (BELOW 1) Play with color with these, "Orange Soft Power Pastel and White Crystal Teardrop Earrings" they will give your look a color kick. The colors of the earrings are what make the piece feel current. (BELOW 2) This "Orange and Green Electro Clash Nova Semi Circle Gradiated Earrings", is a great piece to pair with an all black look. I love how the colors sort of fade into each other. (BELOW 3) A great pair of "Gold Bent Nail Voila Earrings". The earrings are very unique. They not only remind me of a nail, but also a cuff link. Is Tom Binns your Designer Crave?
